A lot of Lotus 7 type replicas (Caterham/Westfield etc) have used the
Vauxhall/Opel DOHC 16V engines (although Rover K series and bike engines
seem more popular these days), so they can't be all that bad.
There are several of these in the December 1998 Cars and Car Conversions
magaine, along with the comment, that the original Vauxhall Ecotec
design was by Cosworth. One example in the Dec 1998 issue was producing
213bhp at 8750rpm, which is not bad for a 1600.
