You are absolutely correct. I owe you an apology and I will send this
to Alfa Digest to apologize publicly. You were not wrong in your previous
posting.
I have a transmission torn down in the garage. The upper hole on the
bellhousing is 11/16 inch back from the mounting flange. The lower hole is 1
1/2 inches back. Measuring the 85 engine also sitting in my garage, the
upper sensor is directly over the flywheel teeth and the lower is over the
trigger button.
I just wonder how or why the tach counts the flywheel teeth. There
are 131 to count for each revolution whereas counting only one trigger per
revolution would be easier even for a computer.
The upper hole on the bellhousing is the rev transmitter. It has a
black plug to the wiring loom. The lower sensor is the "Reference point
transmitter" and it has a gray connector.
I am also curious as to exactly how the trigger is attached to the
flywheel. How did you remove yours and how did you reattach it?
I have thought about moving it to get more ignition advance on my race
car. But it would probably be easier to switch to a normal distributor with
a quicker advance curve and get rid of the ignition computer.
