105 Cam Timing

With all this talk of 2L vs 1750cam timing, how do I check that mine is
correct? I have a 1750 with lots of low end torque and seems unwilling to rev
much beyond 4k. Part of this may be due to the Spica injection, its a late
70's pump and its currently running rich and needs an adjustment. I plan on
doing the Spica tune up first but am I wasting my time if the cam timing is
off?

I've also been told that there isn't alot of difference between the Spica
pumps but I do have a 69 Spica sitting on the shelf. Considering the work
that's involved would it be worth switching? Would it be much easier to switch
when I do a new head gasket?
