Kerry,

This happens when I apply the brake pedal, either very slowly while stopped, 
or in a hard stop.  I took the check valve out, and it makes the squeal when 
air goes through it, so I am pretty sure that is what it is.  I haven't been 
able to get my wife to ride up there with the hood open and let me make a 
panic stop to check it out for sure.  Silly woman :>)

This does not sound like what you have though.  Yours sounds more like it 
might be a broken or very weak motor mount causing this, as both backing off 
and braking would cause the engine to move forward.
