In addition to the previously mentioned claying, I would also consider using 
a sythectic such as Klasse or Autoglym.

An excellent source of information on these matters is Autopia 
www.autopia.org (the site is down today), but if your keen to know about 
cleaning your car, this is the best site and there are several Alfa owners on 
the forum.
