Re spider drive shaft
Thanks to all five of you who offered me advice.
I got it off with a gear puller and a hammer, no heat.
I left the nut on, but loose as advised.
I loaded up the gear puller using a 1/2" drive T-bar and 12" tube extensions
on each side.
I then lay the shaft on the garage floor. I braced the spider against a
structural post and I whacked the back side of the flange with a 4 lb hammer
and a steel bolt as a drift. It popped apart at the second strike.
Now, I hope that the support bearing is a bit easier to get off.
