Christopher Boles' Alfetta parts
The hardest parts for me to get have been the parts exclusive to the 75 and
early 76 model years. the later center support can be used by moving one of
the holes over to the 125mm spacing. The easy style giubos are virtually
gone. The easy straight shaft clutch assembly is all but gone. Several of
the little rubber bits for the Alfetta driveshaft, I believe you will only
find if an older shop still has one in a bin somewhere.
Otherwise so far the true mechanical parts have been reasonably
straightforward to get. Not as easy as a spider but still available. Some
parts can be upgraded by going to the early GTV6 parts car or parts bin.
This may require a little of both, some used bits from the GTV6 and some new
bits to refurbish. One in particular that I liked was the conversion of the
upper control arm and radius rod from the Alfetta to GTV6/Milano part. the
Alfetta requires the removal of the upper arm and riveted radius rod to
replace the rubber bushing in the front wheel well. The later parts allow
the removal of just the rod for bushing replacement. I am not sure but I
believe that the front brakes from the V6 cars will mount on the 4 cylinder
stub axle.
the question I have is about glass. I've been told that a gasketed
windshield from a later Alfetta or GTV6 will not fit into the glue in
windshield models. Anyone know for sure? I would sure hate to finish this
Alfetta project and have a cracked windshield bring it all to an end. All
the rest of the glass can be sourced from a GTV6, the rear hatch if you get
the whole hatch.
If interest in the Alfetta continues to build and owners are willing to
spend then perhaps a few more parts will become available.
Chris, with that many Alfettas you should have at least one on the road for
quite a while.
