If you pressurize the cooling system, it should give you 
an indication of where the leak is.   I would certainly 
go with simple and cheap first like inspecting hoses and 
clamps.   Sometimes it only takes a $2 clamp to get you 
back on the road.   

You didnt mention how often, if at all, you need to add 
coolant.  Or if you see any coolant on the ground and 
how much.   That would be a better indication of where 
the problems lie.
