Camshaft Vent Question

       The hose from the cam cover is the main crankcase ventilation.  Early 
Alfas had a road draft tube on the back of the block that did the same thing 
- vent crankcase pressure from normal engine operation and blow by.
       I once rigged a Webered Alfa with a hose from the cam cover down 
beside the motor mounts to approximate the road draft tube.  However, that is 
a no no for smog purposes.  Plus the oil / vapor separator (the black can on 
later Alfas) does not hurt performance, so there is no valid reason to not 
hook one up.  Or no reason other than that many after market air cleaners do 
not have provision for connecting hoses.  Drill the air cleaner base and fit 
a hose connection.
       The other tube could be vacuum advance for the distributor.  Or it 
could be something else.  Where does the hose go?
