In my experience, Italian stainless steel car parts can be straightened and
polished, yes, but only to a degree. The Italians seem to have used an odd
stainless steel sandwhich material which has a blue-ish stainless on the
outside, but a yellow-ish steel in the middle. The best explaination I've
heard was that the material was rolled from laminated stock to save a few
bucks. True? I dunno, but you can't work it past the surface layer without
it looking like hell.
