Responding to the "gold" Alfetta which had been mentioned, Charlie wrote
"There was once a gold color Alfa called Champagne.  Perhaps that's it.  Why
didn't they call it Asti Spumante?"

There were indeed five champagnes, ranging from the AR 114 on my '72 Berlina
to the AR 855 on Gordy's '87 Spider, and there were several golds, on the 102
Berlina, the OSI DeLuxe, the Montreal, the Junior Zagato, but neither of those
two very different groups apparently hit the Alfettas. As for why they called
it Champagne rather than Asti Spumante, consider that they also had Bordeaux
and Burgundy but no Chianti. Fraught semantics, anyone?
