erratic spider speedo

I don't recall which type was on an 84, but if it's the electronic type, it
could be a connection on the board or a transistor going (or gone) bad; if
it's the mechanical type, it could be the fitting on the end of the cable
(looks like a little brass nut) is worn and slipping.
The bent-needle affliction doesn't usually cause the bouncing symptom; I
think that's usually a failure mode of the electronic speedos.
