Temp for turning on radiator fan

Hey cats,

What temperature should the radiator fan come on
with Alfettas? Mine seems to come on 3/4 or more
up the dial. The middle is 175 (F) and the top is
250. My radiator bypass device is missing, I've
noticed. I mention this becuase the dash gauge
measures water at the head, or on the intake 
manifold, and the fan switch is on the lower
radiator tank, so I'm wondering...
