I'm surprised to hear this assessment. From what I've read
here, it appears a number of folks have "dry shifted" many cars
without too much difficulty. As for me, I was taught by a bus
driver who only used the clutch from a stop, and I have happily
shifted a Datsun F-10, and B210 (yes, a dreaded Honeybee
version), a Fiat Spider, Alfa Spider, Fiat Ibiza (rented), Audi
A4, and numerous other rental cars I can't remember
(thankfully) - all without a clutch, albeit not routinely.
