Re: Time for new radiator suggestions?

Hi Stefano:

If your tanks don't look like Swiss cheese, what's the shop's trouble with a recore, although I certainly wouldn't pay $270 to someone who won't stand behind his work? The tanks are brass, and usually last a good, long time. I had the rad in my '74 Spider recored for about $150, and the guy did a seriously nice job. I even had a threaded bung soldered into the bottom tank for the electric fan thermo-switch. I had the option to have a 3-row core installed, but stuck with the original 2-row core, and have had no trouble here in S. Florida. If you want aluminum, it's got to cost even more, and they're a bitch to repair. It might not hurt to shop around a bit more, but I do know radiator shops are getting scarce.

Subject: Time for new radiator suggestions?

Hey cats,

I sent out my 74 GTV radiator for a cleaning and the shop says its pretty

bad. Suggests I recore for $270 and no guarantee. I think its time for
something

new and maybe aluminum. Any suggestions? Has anyone put a better

radiator in and have a favorite swap. Any known cross references to

other cars. The minimum Id do is a new GTV radiator for $395 at Centerline,

but Id like to do better. Prices, if known, would be great.

Thanks,

Stefano
