Karl,
Porsche produced the vehicle to which you referred in an attempt to
provide the Bundeswehr with a new Kuebelwagen (but 4 x 4). It did not
win a contract and so was not produced since the VW Typ 181 ("Thing")
was nearly as good cross-country although 4 x 2 and vastly cheaper. I
believe there are a couple of prototypes around and I saw one at a rally
in the late 1970s.
