RE: MG (yes more!)



Well now that's not quite fair, Terry :+) You have
some really old MG iron there that any self respecting
classic car enthusiast would love to own. I think we
are talking specifically about MG's from the late 60's
and 70's, and their relative desireability and
reliability compared to Alfas of the same period. That
is no contest. They both had reliability problems, but
the Alfa is just hands down way more of a hoot to
drive (see previous posts about revving). The Alfa's
major reliability problems seemed to mostly revolve
around rust, and minor problems were common, like the
cigarette lighter not working (did those ones you
shoved the 'rette into the center of, like on my 74
GTV, EVER work even when new??). But a well maintained
Alfa of that period will not leave you stranded. I
believe the early 70's MGB's did that to a lot of
people, although being born in 1970 I can't speak with
"been there" authority on the matter.
