Here's a little anecdote that might shed some light on the greatness of 
the MGB as a sports car.

My father was a UPS man, and a Corvette man.   He had a 63' and a top of 
the line '66 Stingray, 427cuin monster.   A friend of his bought an MGB 
and was getting to be a bit overbearing about how good of a car it was.

My father challenged him to a race (1/4 mile)... Not in the Corvette, 
but in his UPS delivery truck.   The UPS truck crossed the line first 
and the MGB issue was settled for all who were present.
