I would guess this is true, so in that way -- sheer numerical superiority and 
familiarity -- MGB is greater, as in larger.  As to any other meaning of 
greater -- well, that is pretty subjective, right?  And subjective opinions 
in the editorial of a newspaper are meant to be the opinion of the publisher.
