Re:MGB - the greatest sportscar of all time?

"My local newspaper is running an article next Friday in their "Wheels"
section titled "MGB - The Greatest Sportscar of All Time". I've already
started composing a letter to the editor to rebut this absurd claim, but
would appreciate any additional ammunition my fellow digesters might be able
to provide. So, let me have it - I need reasons why the Alfa Romeo Spider is
a more appropriate choice than the MGB for "The Greatest Sportscar of All
Time""

I was in a coworker's office this morning who had a coffee cup that
proclaimed him the World's Greatest Dad. I'm not sure who the sanctioning
body is for this, but my father has a cup proclaiming the same title.
Instead of setting up a battle to the death to sort the matter out, I
decided it was best just to let him think that he was the best father and my
dad do the same. Ultimately these proclamations don't matter.

There are a lot more people out there who have owned MGBs and know the
marque than know Alfas. I'd say let the article run in peace. The editor
will already be getting letters from Porsche people and Triumph people and
Jaguar people and muscle car people and who knows what other enthusiasts.
If you really want to make a point, do like I do. Whenever I finish with
chewing gum, I stuff it in the body panel drain holes of non-Italian classic
cars.

Cheers,
Lawrence
