GTV6 column switches

My ignition switch has always been a bit flaky, and the column switch
(specifically the low-beam switch) is now acting up.  I've verified
in both cases it's the switch.  Not really wishing to spend the $200+
required to replace both switches (as well as simply being against just
discarding what is certainly becoming a rarer part), I'm wondering if
anyone out there has attempted to repair them.

Also, all of the catalogs state their GTV6 column switch is the "European
switch".  Anyone know what the difference is between the "European switch"
and the "US switch"?
