That's correct Joe. I guess I should have been more specific. For older
cars, especially those non-OBD I or OBD II systems, or in my case the
L-Jetronic system, why should it be made illegal? For more advanced EFI
systems, modifying it may not be a good idea because most of them do
everything really well. I guess it would be kinda strange why an EFI
with a knock sensor, wideband O2 sensor input and a very high
resolution map capability on an Alfetta with a marginally functioning
SPICA system and smog pump be made illegal too.

I will have the Autronic SMC which has closed loop and a wideband
sensor input, which I think is much better than many mid '90s motronic
EFI system. In fact it is sequential which means it won't be firing at
closed intake valves (would that improve emissions?). Why that is made
illegal, is beyond me.
