I just discovered that there is an easy replacement for the 212 degree
fan thermoswitch on the 164.

The Wahler 823 959 481/75 , VW # 823959481, is a direct replacement and
is set for 70/75 degrees C .  This is used on VW Fox 87-93 w/o a/c.

If anyone should ask, it also fits the Citroen SM.
