I have had good luck with 3M's Super 77 spray adhesive, which is available 
from industrial suppliers in 16 ounce spray cans. It produces a permanent 
bond when applied as a contact cement on both surfaces, but a less strong, 
repositionable bond when applied to one surface only. It has a light gray 
color and does not bleed through.
