Thank you all, for the comments and input.. we do appriciate it.
I had a computer problem, which resulted in me burning down the thing
and installing XP, took a few days to get back online..
Just writing out my dilemma got me thinking that the "buy the better"
approach, would be the way to go.. as the grand majority seem to feel.
It was good to hear other important points like staying away from
rustbuckets, and properly gauging I, and my wife's, ability to dedicate
to a big project.
We wouldn't mind a lot of work, as long as it's easy to do in the
garage work.. Marcia isn't afraid to get her hands greasy..
I'm even looking at alternate ways, like a local car that has had a lot
done with it, but is being offered (here in CA) for a lower price due
to having being converted to Webers.. (amongst nice things like big
valve head, hotter cams, good, no cat exaust) and am investigating
the costs of Spica'ing it back, getting an air pump and stock
manifold.. etc. Have to see if that would be worth the value of the
car vs the asking price.. Not cheap, (actually, what all do you think
I'd be looking at?) but I could sell the Webers and manifold to help
offset the cost of a Ingram rebuilt Spica, different cams, air pump and
manifold.. a cat.. Damn smog requrements anyway.. ;-)
But, where there's a will....
