How does a viscous coupling work? (as on the 155 Q4)

That is what happens with the chosen fluid. Just a far more extreeme
version of multigrade oil!

As the fluid heats up it thickens. This thickening causes more drag
between the plates in the viscous coupling, so the input and output
plates start to bind, transferring more drive
