Subject: 2002 Spiders are on the road
Beautiful 70-degree morning here in Buffalo made for a nice window-down
drive in to work. Decided to take the roads that wind along one of the
creeks rather than the freeway. Up ahead something squat and low, fat
meats underneath and as I got closer the high slitted tail lights gave
the car's origin away - a 2002 Alfadelta Spider. The driver must've
wondered who the geek with the smile was next to him, 'til we stopped at
a light with me one lenth ahead. I could see him notice another Alfa and
when the light turned green he got on the go pedal a bit for show. I
just stayed still and listened to the sound...
I've seen a (looks left, right, lowers voice) NON-Autodelta spider
lurking down in my parts.. Was being driven by co-workers, back from
lunch, and a gold convertible passed us by. I even picked it out,
distorted, in the passenger's rear view, thinking "that's one of those
cars with the headlight pattern reminesent of a new... WAITAMINUTE..
it's a convertible!!" Turned in time to see it come up and pass us.
It had no plates, just paper badges of the car dealer it lives at..
which will remain nameless, since she might be a "illegal alien".
They didn't want to talk about it much, when I called to ask them
about it.. "uh, not for sale, special project, going back overseas real
soon.." A plesant shock, to see on here after all the ones I saw on my
Europe trip last fall..
