Giulietta wheels
In AD8-637 Ian Evans writes "My newly acquired Giulietta spider '61 has 3
wheels with "0" shaped holes and 1 with "D" shape. What is correct for the
year and when did they change?", and in 648 Carl Davis replies "No set
pattern, just have 5 that match."
I am not a 750/101 person, graduated to 105s in 1967 and gladly defer to
others on Giulietta arcana, but my impression is totally pro-"D"; it is all I
can find in any factory illustration of a standard Giulietta or 101 Giulia.
The early pre-101 hardback Giulietta parts book #608 lists three wheels,
136552603, with rolled-in bead, used on early berlinas and Sprints, and the
Borrani 136552809 and Fergat 136552810 with rolled-out rims, all three 4-1/4 J
x 15. The later loose-leaf post-101 Giulietta parts book lists just four
wheels, the same Borrani 136552809 and Fergat 136552810, plus the
#101.26.28.010.00 Borrani, a quarter-inch wider, used on the Sprint Speciale
and Sprint Zagato, and the 101.22.28.010.00 wheel used on the long-wheelbase
ceremonial berlina and the second-series Giulietta Promiscua, both built by
Colli.
Some early 105 Giulias wore what appear to be Giulietta hubcaps on their
round-hole wheels, and I believe that the hubcap-attaching clips were
identical; my best guess is that Ian Evans probably has some 105 wheels, but
if any 101 scholars differ I will certainly defer to their knowledge.
