one more time with feeling (and gas smell)

Dear Digesters,

the trunk in the Milano reeks of gas.

I have checked both the filler hose and the fill up breather hose (why does
this thing go OVER and around the filler tube?) by removing them, looking at
them (what else can you do?) and putting them again where they were, and
tightening the clamps as well as I could.

There is this one hose (well there are a ton of hoses in there but only one
more gas looking hose) that seems to go somewhere into the passenger side rear
corner of the car and I was not totally sure where it was coming from.

Any ideas about where all that gas smell could be coming from? Its at its most
noticeable in the trunk, though it is barely noticeable in the cabin as well,
and I could be loosing some fuel just by being there, though the trunk and
tank seem to be in fine condition (have not removed the tank, just all the
trim from the trunk to look at things).

Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated.
