RE: Reverse Poppin out of gear
May have been my posting. My 84 spider 2.0 was doing this and after
talking to a few locals and getting input from the digest (thanks to Tom
Sahines), I was advised to pull the tail section from the transmission
and see if the shift rods could be moved so two gears were concurrently
selected. It took a bit of effort to get the tail section off (had to
jack up the front of the engine quite a bit to get needed clearance), but
once off, I could indeed engage two different gears concurrently (pushed
the reverse/5th gear rod forward and then I could push/pull either the
1st/2nd or the 3rd/4th rod into gear).
Long story short.. someone in the past had opened this transmission up
and failed to install the interlock rollers. I got the interlock rollers
from Alfa Parts. Removed the transmission, split the case, remove
contents, install the interlock rollers, assemble transmission. There is
no other way, if it's interlock rollers that is your problem.
Good luck,

Subject: Reverse Poppin out of gear
I need some help. A couple of months back I remember reading a post
about
someone reverse poppin out of gear and the various answering threads
stating
the possible reasons behind it.
My Spider is poppin out of reverse when too much torque is applied. The
rest of the gears and synchros are great. I was hoping for a remedy that
wouldn't entail dropping the transmission as I want to drive it this
summer.
Thanks in advance
