Re: "Italianization" of my name?
In ad8-0608 Kevin Trent wants an italianate transliteration of his surname for
his bicicletta di montagna da corsa. The closest THIS Svedese (who denies any
real knowledge of the Italian language) can come up with, offhand, is Trento,
which is the name of the commune in northern Italy which the English usually
call 'Trent'. (The name is supposed to come from its ancient name of
Tridentum, which could link it to Fiat-family cousin Maseratti, but
wotthehell.) Looser links might be Trenta or, since bikes are feminine,
Trentina, or possibly Trigesimo, all loosely based on a convenient assumption,
whether correct or not, that his 'Trent' is an anglicised version of the
French 'Trente', which seems fairly likely given 1066 and all that.
Now, the 'Kevin' part is probably the harder part - - -
