Tops

I probably over paid for my "new" 1967 Duetto. But the smile is priceless.
Odd thing, when I brought it home, on the drive it ran just fine on the
highway,
but it was a little?constipated?? when at partial throttle. As soon as I
opened it up
it came to life. I checked the plugs, they were black. OK to rich? Looked at
the Weber tuning info, grabbed a slotted screw driver are set about
adjustment of the idle jets. When all the idle jets were 3/4 off fully seated
and having left the idle linkage speed adjustment screw as it was, I suddenly
had a screaming 3000 RPM idle.
Guess the last fella thought it was a Holly and was trying to let more air
into the carb to lean it out. Putting new plugs, points, etc. in shortly then
will retune. There is a nice Weber tuning write-up on a Triumph web page.

Now what I really need is advice, (worth the price someone else paid).
Dago Red (the Alfas name) needs a new top. It has a vinyl one now and it
needs replaced. I have look on the net at Uph World/Caribou/Topsonline and
more.
Looks like Haartz Stayfast is the preferred material, with rolled seams,
padded quarters, they all claim the same basic description, they have WIDELY
varying prices. I also need to replace all the rubber weather stripping.
Who would you recommend for the Top, and who to supply the W/S and cables???
on a different note the wife drives a F*rd SUV, and loves it. It
was sunny the other day and I had just straightened the carb problem out, I
drove it around the block once to check it out. My daughter was at school and
needed to be picked up, I tossed the keys to her and told her to go. Good
thing the seats are vinyl she nearly wet her pants. She jumped right in and
took off, typically female though, I remembered the 3000 rpm sound from
earlier and that was about as high as she revved it as she drove off.
Blinding smile though.
Please let me know about the Top and Parts.
