smells bad

In V8 #551 Mike Morgan asks about the strong gasoline smell emaninting
from the right / passenger side of his '87 Spider.

I know little about such modern vehicles such as an '87 Alfa Romeo,
however, the late seventies (Spica equipped) Spiders have a one-way
valve in the fuel return line.

Should yours have one (arrow points toward rear of car) check it
outassuming you've tightened everything first and the smell is still
there. Obviously the valve itself has two hose connections.
