Re: Ferodo pads

Hi to Paul,

I'm not familiar with the supplier you mention but I have tried both 'standard' and 'fast road' Ferodo pads in my UK rhd Milano/75 3.0 6V - the standard pads gave good bite and stopping power from cold.

The fast road pads (designated DS2000) scared me a few times! First push from cold was about as effective at slowing the car as sticking your foot out of the drivers door and trying to build up some friction with the asphalt!
Pushing hard for a second and third time gave really good bite however - these pads are good when warm (and would be good on the track) but not so good in stop-start traffic, or when you come to try them after an hour on a main highway.
I have tried the DS2000 for circuit racing and they are usable, but the DS3000 compound is fantastic for that application: no warmup required, excellent bite and feel. (Don't use them on the road though - they will not last for thousands of miles and they seem to have a high metal content which means they can erode if left in contact with water for a long time. After a wet race I would tend to take the DS3000's out and dry them in the garage to stop them crumbling at the edges.)
My advice would be: use the standard pads on the road and the 'fast' compounds on the track. You could maybe just change the front pads for a club track day - it's easy to do.

But hold on - surely you have all sorts of marvellous carbon pads by Performance Friction and others - anyone tell me if I should try them myself, especially for racing in the Super, which has the bigger GTV calipers?
