hi all,

well, ain't i dumb!  DON'T ANSWER THAT!!!  ;~)  sure enuff, it turns out that my chmsl brake-lite was out.  i dint notice it was out, & it never occurred to me to check this.  thanks to john fox for mentioning that it was also connected to the arc.  well, it certainly is - replacing this bulb solved the problem - now no blinking red lites from the arc when i step on the brakes.
