$2002/3 questions
Since so many people have asked other questions, I figured I'll get them all to the digest in one fell swoop.
Our plans for next year is to run the exact same car. We can go up to the $2003 limit, which is about $20 more than what we spent. We can also take pieces off the car if we find free replacements, which I figure to be in the $100-$300 range if we are lucky and careful. Whether we get around to do this depends on how well we do the current car over the next year. One thing that must be done is engine compartment detailing- need many more points in the concours.
I already answered the claiming rule- there isn't one anymore.
The cost of the car and any parts cars you buy are included in the budget, but you can sell parts off the car up to the purchase price to lower the cost. We did find $950 or so of stuff to sell off the Spider, so the car was free. Free cars are ok to start with, if you can prove it. But lets say you picked up a Spider for $1k a LONG time ago, played with it, used it, etc, I think you can fairly claim a $500 value to the car. Donated parts are "fair value" so since the turbo was donated from a team member, it was $20 (don't laugh- one went on e-bay for $32...). Quite a few of this group donated parts, and I had to get some type of documentation.
Finally, thanks, but no thanks, Russ. We've got a car, don't want to change it. Again, it would be great to see other Alfa's competing!
