Re: cops and italian plates

Hopefully the cop's second car isn't an Alfa and he belongs to the digest!

I would like to relate a story from last night because it was just
hilarious.
As some of you may know, I have italian plates on my yellow 164 (only on
the
back, nothing on the front) and on occasion, I will toss my IL plates in
the
back window if I plan on doing anything somewhat illegal.
I was driving down a large street in Champaign and there was a cop behind
me.
Thinking it would be incredibly obvious that something was wrong, I decided
to
hide in plain sight and pull into a gas station where there was another cop
just sitting there. I pulled into the gas station and the cop behind me
kept
going straight.
I fill up my gas tank (that took about 3 gallons because it was already
full)
and the cop drives over next to me and says: (here's the conversation)

"so when are you going to pt your Illinois tags on there"
"oh, officer, I just brought the car back from Europe and haven't had a
chance
to go to my mechanic to have the plates swapped"
"I see, yeah, that must be hard because you have to replace the license
plate
holder too"
"yeah, you have to rip the whole trunk apart to take the thing off"
"ok, well, you ought to take your Illinois plates out of the back window so
you only display one plate at a time -- and you'll have to put the front
plates on too when you get a chance"
"yeah, the problem is this car does not have front license plate holders -
you
would have to drill through the bumper to put it on!"
"ouch! -- (in a lower voice) well, if I were you, I'd take the chance and
not
put them on. You see all those corvettes doing that too..."
"yeah, I'll probably do that. Hey, thanks for the advice"
"ok, have a good evening"
"bye"

Ha ha ha!!!!!
I LOVE ignorant cops!!!!!!

later,

Karl
