Somebody asked about how the spare tire gets water in it...
In mine, somehow, there is something faulty with the drainage of the rear
glass such that even though the tubes are clean, water just sort of avoids
them, then sits in the pocket at the base of the hatch.  When the trunk is
popped, the water dumps out and into the compartment.  My guess is that with
enough rainwater, it also swishes out during hard cornering and braking, as
well.  YMMV
