convertible tops

I need a new top for my '89 Quad.  In the past, I've
had pretty good luck with Caribou tops (I bought one
for my '91 Spider and my '83 Fiat spider). Both tops
seemed to be of very nice construction and quality
fabric. 

My question is, are the more expensive tops really any
different, if so how much and are they worth the
nearly 200% premium ? The Caribou tops are around $225
(+/-$15).  The canvas tops at IAP, World, etc are over
$500.  

What's the difference.  Caribou says nothing.  Anyone
have any insight on this ??
