>From your description it sounds like the vacuum sensor has gone 
south. Remove the carpet from the side wall and you should see the 
sensor attached to the side wall. It has an electrical connector 
and a vacuum line going into it and is shaped sort of like a 
skinny bell. The bad news is that they cost +$300. Spruell 
(Atlanta) had them in stock when I replaced mine.
