Speedometers/tachometers
Howdy do -
Thanks to Joe Elliott for confirming the figures I'd
come up with for mph @ 1000 rpm in 5th gear - his GTV6
figure (24 mph) is identical to what I worked out, by
observation, for the Milano. And Charlie-in-LA is
exactly right about what'll happen if you insist on
thinking that 3000 in 5th is 55 mph in a Milano or
GTV6. However, though I don't have any documentation
for it, I'm suspecting - again, by observation - that
this might be true for the 105 cars. I say this
because after having driven the Milano up and down
Orange Grove a whole lot at 2000 rpm in 4th (36 mph,
by my reckoning), I find that the 2000 Berlina paces
traffic pretty much the same at that indicated rpm in
5th.
Does anyone have a set of mph/1000rpm figures for
those cars? What I've figured for the Milano is as
follows: 2nd gear=10 mph, 3rd gear=14 mph, 4th gear=18
mph, 5th gear=24 mph. This may be off a tad, but it's
seen me through a few speed traps. And, yes, the
Milano speedometer died over two years ago. Heaven
knows how long the one in the Berlina has been on the
fritz - well before I got it.
