breaking in a rebuilt engine

I'm rebuilding a 2.5 v6 and was wondering what is the recommended oil
for breaking it in.  The last time I rebuilt a v6 I broke it in with
Castrol 20w50 and it burned oil for 30000 miles.  Now it uses a quart
every 5000 miles or so and most of that leaks out.  I'd like to break
this one in a little faster.  Any ideas?
