slippin' liners, trickle charger, SPICA tool

Hey All:

Last week there was some talk of loosening the
cylinder liners if the engine was rotated whilst the
head was removed. OOOOPPPpppsssss. Well, can you tell
by looking? If not, and I didn't happen to have the
very stuck variety (as I wasn't intending to remove
them) what symptoms will I watch for after I get my
Spider back together...oil consumption from excessive
blow-by? Any suggestions on fabricating a tool to
secure the liners without resorting to an ALFA
specific tool? Its been open for a while and I'll need
to turn it make sure rings aren't stuck and to find
TDC to put it right.

Mike S. asked about trickle chargers. The Deltran
Battery Tender worked well for me on my BMW cycle
battery (30 amp hour) when winter slowed the riding
schedule. Past tense because the bike and I kissed the
rear of a back-hoe in a construction zone after being
waved through by the flaggers. Oops, again. 20 days in
ICU and 3 surgeries later...I'm doing great. Really!
Miss the Beemer (K100RS) but I'm looking forward to
the finished Spider project. Look in the motorcycle
rags for ads...Competition Accessories and Chaparral
often have prices below $40.

Regarding a SPICA enricher solenoid tool...I found
that a 27mm Sears Craftsman deep socket ($9) fits
around the can and lands right on the lock ring. Mark
the inset areas at the bottom of the socket with a
Sharpie, clamp the socket in a vise and grind away
between the marks with an angle grinder. Dress with a
file. Employ at the end of a 8" extension and your
ratchet wrench. Works great!

Thanks for your input...hope my hints help.
