What the ... #2??
On another not so happy note, 2 weeks ago (6 days before my bday), I went to
an unscheduled lunch with a friend and left the car in a metered parking lot
in Evanston.
When I came back I found the plastic wheel arch on the rear left quarter
panel smashed into a billion pieces and some of the sheet metal of the wheel
arch bent and mashed in a bit. Of course my reaction was in the order of
what the.... too and there was no sign of the red car that had done this to
me.
All I found was what ended up being a bogus "anonymous" note on my
windshield that said a Red Jag hit me (have red paint streaks on the
demolished plastic pieces and that part of the sheet metal) with a certain
license plate number. Later it was proven that the license plate number was
bogus and it was probably left by the person that hit me in order to calm
the suspicion of any of the bystanders that were watching.
Bottom line, State Farm gave me a $50 check after they estimated the total
damage to $550 (I have a $500 deductible).
I was supposed to give a ride to a friend to a dentist and they cancelled
the appointment without telling me so when I showed up we went to lunch. Two
hours driving, and then two hours running around with the police station and
the insurance. Plus since I think the estimate is little low now I have to
run around trying to get quotes from bodyshops.
On the positive side the car is 99.9% ok and is 100% driveable.
Now since I reported this to the police my alfa has probably a car wreck in
her record, (which I am sure will do wonders for the resale if I ever have
to sell her to an enthusiast) and I am still out the money for the repair.
I guess no good deed goes unpunished,

P.S. does anyone know where and how much those 2 plastic pieces of trim go
for? State Farm bundled them into one and said they cost $32 which I very
much doubt.
