re: computers
I hate to contribute to something so off-topic, but yes, I'm a Mac
guy. OS9 isn't perfect, but it's a lot closer than the alternatives
available to a guy like me that wants a BS-free personal computer.
FWIW, the first computer I got was an IBM-compatible, but I was so
displeased with it that I sought some sort of more efficient
alternative, and the Macintosh seemed to provide everything I was
after, while Windows just tries to hide the complex mess that
(sometimes) makes it work. The job I had in high school that allowed
me to afford my Alfa involved managing all the computer systems for a
small wholesale and retail firm, which uses mostly Macs. They bought
a few Windows machines now and then because they're so cheap, but I
spend so much more time trying to make them work that they end up
being much more expensive. For various reasons, I have extensive
experience with a variety of platforms, and if anyone feels like
emailing me off-digest to discuss this, go right ahead, but I think
that every digester should limit him/herself to one post apiece on
this thread since (not unlike SUVs) it's so off-topic and potentially
offensive.
