164LS ignition key stuck (warning: no Audi content)

Has anyone else had their key stuck in the ignition? I believe I remember it has happened to others. Mine got stuck this morning, which was then released by pulling the backup button underneath.

I didn't see anything on Colin's 164 homepage, though I do know there was recent Digest discussion on disabling the release button for convenience's sake.

Question is, where do I go from here? I may have the last Alfa in North America that is still under warranty (7 year, 100K miles extended warranty that expires 4 months from now). If it is a simple fix I will do it myself; otherwise I get to drag it to the dealer and deal with nameless, faceless "loss controllers" to get authorization to fix it, blah, blah...
