Modern SAAB???
Alfabill is spot on when he describes the difference between SAAB
powerplants and Alfa. SAAB is above all else a practical car. In the days
of the now venerable 99 I used to joke that it was the only box stock car
you could yump right off the showroom floor. That particular torch has been
handed off to the Subaru, just try and break one of these mini tanks! New
SAABs use the exact same engine as older SAABs, if it is a turbo four.
Bulletproof, low rpm grunt, low redline, tough as nails and durable as a
tank engine. The Alfa V6 is an artiste in comparison. SAAB gets the job
done, handles very well and most importantly, handles exactly the same no
matter what the weather or road condition. Truly, driving a SAAB reasonably
quickly requires very little skill! Take the same road in the 164 and
you'll need to keep your wits about you to keep up to the SAAB, but if you
are truly skilled you'll beat the SAAB every time. Of course, you can carry
a refrigerator in the back of the SAAB at 200 km/hr if you insist (no
kidding, you can actually haul a refrigerator in the back of a 9000) don't
try that with an Alfa....
