I knew a Mexican citizen who kept and used his Mexican car in the U.S. with
Mexican license plates (a Ford PU). He had to go back to Mexico, with his
car, once a year, to file some paper work. This was 10 years ago.

So all you have to do is divorce your current spouse, marry a Mexican citizen,
and take your Alfa back to Mexico once a year. Not a bad deal for a true
aficionado ;-)

I was at the auto show in Mexico City in December, and saw a 147 and a 166 on
display. I have a digital photo of the 166 at the show, if anyone wants to see
it. I forget when, and which models, but one of the Alfa spokespersons said
Alfa Romeo cars would be available "soon" in Mexico.
