SPICA vs. Webers

I once owned a 1981 Spider that had been converted to Webers, and I
subsequently converted it back to SPICA (a mid/late '70's setup, not the
infamous 1980/81 version).  The SPICA was far and away the better
solution:  much better mid-range power, better fuel economy, easier
starting when cold.  Properly set up, a SPICA system does NOT require a
lot of "fooling with."  Webers are fine if you can get the RPMs up, but
how often do you *really* get to hold 4000 RPM (or more)?  Most street
engines "live" around 2500 RPM and Webers are not the best solution in
that RPM range.  Also, a stock Alfa engine should really have some
"tweaks" to it to be able to utilize the potential better "breathing" of
the Webers.  Stick with SPICA.
