Brian is right in recommending a *stock* GTV for the track.
I said to *update* it, not necessarily *upgrade* it.  By that I meant, and
only now I expand, sorry, if your 28 y/o car has factory bushings and other
components that do wear, just renew as needed.  Mostly for safety sake.  A
stock GTV is still a blast.  Once you start, though, the itch for *upgrade*
will come alone.  But please don't go out with worn out bushings, ball
joints, leaky calipers and a loose steering box.  And change your brake
fluid.
As far as wheels, and did get a set of 14" alloy Campis for the track,
instead of using the heavier stock steel "rims".

Alfas - there's nothing wrong with skinny tires, and in fact the ride
characteristic has a certain quality to it that some might find preferable
to the "stuff as much rubber under the fender as you possibly can"
